Founded in 1880 and named after the Huron Indians. Huron “The Heart of South Dakota” is the home of the Worlds’ Largest Pheasant and the South Dakota’s State Fair, one of the most welcoming community atmospheres in all of South Dakota. Located in east-central South Dakota in the heart of the state’s Glacial Lakes and Prairies Region, Huron rests along the beautiful James River in an area steeped in natural history.
